VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteer with Southampton Youth Offending Service
Southampton Youth Offending Service (YOS) is recruiting volunteers, to start training in October 2014.

We have a strong record in this area and are always grateful to hear from people willing to offer their time.

Volunteers currently assist the YOS in two areas:

Referral Order Panel Member
When a young person is sentenced in Court for the first time they will usually receive a Referral Order. This requires them to work with a community panel to address the reasons behind their offending and to apologise for their actions in some way. You can become a trained volunteer Panel Member to undertake this challenging rewarding role.

Reparation Volunteer
A key part of our work is supporting young people to make amends or apologise for their actions. Volunteers can be part of the work that we undertake in assisting young people in writing letters of apology, apologising directly to victims or undertaking meaningful reparation in the community.

Volunteers can undertake one or both roles. Full support and training is provided.

If you are interested, please contact Sheila Ward, Referral Order Co-ordinator on 023 8083 4900. Via Facebook Southampton’s Communities
